As part of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), companies have been asked to map their discharges of WFD substances. For the competent authority, it is essential to assess whether the submitted data is complete and accurate, and whether it aligns with the information previously recorded in permit applications. Incomplete or contradictory data can lead to ambiguities in permitting and enforcement.
Inventory of WFD Substances
Environmental Service Regional Nijmegen
The Challenge
The Approach
Cantech supports the Nijmegen Regional Environmental Agency in the substantive assessment of the submitted data on WFD substances. We verify whether the reported discharges correspond with the aspects described in the applications and provide a well‑founded recommendation to the project lead. In the subsequent phase, this assessment forms the basis for determining whether adjustments are required, such as including WFD substances in amendment decisions.
The Result
Our contribution ensures a clear and reliable assessment of the WFD data request. This provides the Environmental Agency with a solid basis for decision‑making, enables targeted adjustments where necessary, and structurally strengthens the protection of water quality.
